Separating Couples
A breakdown of a relationship necessitates swift action and we will see a couple without any delay.
In fact, you will see on this website an article I, Declan Foley, wrote for the Solicitors’ Gazette, entitled “Breaking Up is Hard to Do”, which I call the Children’s Charter to help parents in the initial stages of a break-up and also well after the mediation is over. We know communication will be
difficult and emotions may be high. We will facilitate discussions on all issues at a pace to suit the parties including seeing them separately, called a shuttle mediation. A binding agreement may be entered into which can be used in court in a subsequent divorce application. We will deal with the following:
Access to children (including for grandparents)
Maintenance for Partners/Spouses and Children,
Property,
Wills and Inheritances,
Pensions,
New partners.

Family Disputes

Family members sometimes fall out over land, wills, property, and co-owned businesses. Siblings
may also disagree over care for elderly parents and even their funeral arrangements. We aspire to
guide the conversations and keep the conversation focused on present solutions that will lead to
better futures.
Unlike counselling where the conversation focuses on “fixing” a current relationship,
mediation seeks new structures and systems to keep conflict from continuing to happen even when
relationships change.
